At this time Yes, Due to the overwhelming response of applicants we do not have the resources to provide service dogs to any other demographic.
Currently we only provide dogs for Autism, PTSD, TBI and Mobility reasons. Unfortunately at this time we are unable to address other disabilities.
This question is a tough one. It is a case by case answer. In some cases Yes, In some cases No. It depends on a number of Variables that have to be evaluated by our Trainers. For this case we ask that you please still fill out the proper program application and make note on that application about wanting to have your own dog trained. Please note that even if you will have your own dog trained, these training slots fall under the same application processes and timelines as all other recipients. For example- if applications are being accepted for Spring 2016 your application would also be for a spring 2016 training slot. Please remember that we only have a limited amount of training slots due to limited resources and trainers.
It can take between 1 and 3 years to fully train a service dog depending on Age, Maturity, level of training, tasks required to perform and willingness to learn by the dog.
The Average price for a Service Dog in the United States is $22,000. It can range all the way up to $60,000 for more complex training, Depending on what and how many tasks the dog is required to know in order to help mitigate the handler's disability. K9 Care Montana provides them to our recipient at NO COST. We take on full responsibility of all fundraising and the rest is provided by Donations. In Fact ALL K9CM dogs, activities and resources are provided at no cost to our recipients!
